The history - Hotel Metropole Suisse - Como

The building is protected as one of special interest by the Monuments and Fine Arts Office.

The ground floor and beautiful nineteenth century façade have been embellished by Como’s  famous rationalist architect, Terragni, whose 100th  birthday was celebrated in 2004.

The hotel is conveniently located on the banks of lake Como, as well as the centre of the city of Como. Coupled with its  attentive presence of the owner family and their desire to personally welcome their guests, the Metropole Suisse has become  a favourite for generations of tourists coming to see some of Lake Como.

Since the post-war period, its rooms have played host to some of the greatest names of the day. These have included the likes of King Farouk, the Princess Fustemberg, the Danish royal family and the great team of champions of Inter Milan under its coach Helenio Herrera. Celebrities from the world of entertainment have also chosen to stay here, including Renato Rascel, Aldo Fabrizi, Peppino de Filippo, Carla Fracci, Diego Abatantuono, Silvio Orlando and Giampiero Mughini.
